The sessions can vary slightly from week to week, but as a general outline here’s what the expect:
Normally we start with a good old-fashioned cup of tea and a biscuit. We know how that first meeting may feel. It is good to have a moment to familiarise, say hi, feel welcome and respected.
You only need say what you want to say. No one will pressure you; it is in your control.
We usually sit in a circle of chairs and begin by a member reading the momentum statement.
From here on we may have a ‘check in’ where each member has a few minutes to say what’s on top for them if they want to.
This sometimes leads to general discussion where members share experiences.
Sometimes a group member will bring thoughts or a simple exercise they have learned in order to support their recovery and share this with the group.
Before leaving we make sure we are happy to leave the room and enter the world again, by doing some simple exercises to re-orientate ourselves to the here and now.
